The homeowner’s bungalow on Great Western Road had an ageing roof that was no longer energy efficient or weatherproof. Heat loss through the roof was a concern, the existing roof coverings were reaching the end of their lifespan, and the dormer flat roof also required attention. The property needed a full upgrade to bring it up to modern standards in both performance and appearance.
Our Solution
We delivered a complete roof replacement, addressing insulation, structure, and finish. The works included: Stripping the existing roof back to the sarking boards. Installing PIR insulation boards for improved thermal efficiency. Adding new counter battens and battens to ensure proper ventilation and tile support. Fitting a Marley breathable membrane for long-term protection. Installing Marley Mendip smooth brown tiles for a durable, modern look. Adding two new Velux windows to maximise light and ventilation. Constructing a new dormer flat roof with tongue-and-groove timber, marine plywood, and EPDM rubber for a robust, watertight finish. Replacing all fascias, soffits, and guttering for a clean and cohesive appearance. Installing a mechanical ridge system for enhanced weather performance.
Project Outcome
The completed roof has dramatically improved both the functionality and kerb appeal of the property. The new PIR insulation has significantly increased energy efficiency, while the Marley Mendip tiles and mechanical ridge system provide reliable, long-term protection. The dormer roof is now fully weather-sealed, and the new fascias, soffits, and guttering give the bungalow a fresh, modern finish.
