Client's Challenge

The property had an ageing roof that was no longer performing effectively. The existing internal boards and coverings were deteriorating, raising concerns over weatherproofing, ventilation, and energy efficiency. The roof also included a skylight that needed removal, and the property’s extension required a new roof to match the main structure. The client wanted a full roof upgrade that would improve durability, functionality, and appearance, while also incorporating three sections of roughcast at the front of the property.

Our Solution

We carried out a complete roof replacement, focusing on long-term performance, weather protection, and a modern, low-maintenance finish. All internal boards were replaced with 9mm Sterling board to provide a solid base, and a Marley breathable membrane was laid to protect the roof against the elements. Treated timber counter battens and tile battens were installed to improve ventilation and support for the new coverings. The client’s choice of Marley tiles, including vented tiles, was fitted, and a dry ridge and dry verge system was added to create secure, weatherproof joints along the ridges and edges. Eaves support trays were fitted for a neat, protected finish, and the existing skylight was removed to ensure a seamless roofline. The new roof extended to the property’s extension, and three sections of roughcast were applied to the front, enhancing the overall appearance. The site was fully cleared upon completion.
