Client's Challenge

Our client, Hamilton , required a full roof replacement after the existing slate roof had reached the end of its lifespan. The old roof covering and felt were no longer providing adequate protection, raising concerns around water ingress, heat loss, and long-term structural integrity. The client was looking for a complete, modern roofing solution using high-quality Marley tiles, alongside improved ventilation, insulation upgrades, and a robust dry ridge and verge system. Safety, durability, and a long-term guarantee were key priorities.

Our Solution

To ensure the project was completed safely and efficiently, we erected full scaffolding around the property to provide secure working access. Skip hire was arranged and included, allowing for the responsible removal of all waste materials. The existing slate roof and felt were carefully stripped and removed, exposing the internal sarking boards. These were fully inspected, with any rotten or damaged boards replaced to create a sound structural base. We installed a Marley breathable membrane along with eaves support trays, improving airflow while protecting the roof structure from moisture. New treated timber tile battens and counter battens were then fitted to current standards. Existing Velux flashing kits were replaced, ensuring a watertight seal around roof windows. Code 5 lead flashing was installed around the base of the chimney to prevent future water ingress at vulnerable junctions. The main roof was finished with Marley tiles chosen by the client, including vented tiles to enhance roof ventilation. A dry ridge and dry verge system was installed to provide a clean, secure, and maintenance-free finish. As part of the upgrade, we also installed new internal loft insulation, significantly improving the home’s energy efficiency. The site was fully cleared on completion, leaving the property clean and tidy. All work was completed to the highest standard and is backed by a 20-year guarantee for complete peace of mind.

The property now benefits from a fully renewed Marley tiled roofing system, designed to provide long-term protection, improved insulation, and modern performance. The new breathable membrane, upgraded ventilation, dry ridge system, and loft insulation have transformed the roof into a durable, energy-efficient structure.
