Marley Tile Roof Replacement with New Guttering & Leadwork in Barrhead

Our Solution

The project began with the erection of scaffolding to provide safe working access, followed by the careful removal and disposal of the existing roof coverings and guttering. Once exposed, the roof structure was inspected and any damaged sarking boards were repaired or replaced before work commenced on the new roof system. A Marley breathable membrane was installed across the roof deck, along with eaves support trays to improve water management at the roof edge. Treated timber counter battens and tile battens were then fitted to create a strong and durable framework for the new roof covering. To improve rainwater drainage, new deep-flow uPVC guttering was installed throughout the property. New Code 5 lead flashing was fitted at the base of the chimney, while specialist lead flashing kits were installed around both Velux windows to provide long-lasting protection against water ingress. The roof was finished using Marley roof tiles selected by the homeowner, including vented tiles to improve airflow and roof ventilation. A mechanically fixed dry ridge and dry verge system completed the installation, providing a secure, maintenance-free finish designed to withstand Scotland's challenging weather conditions. A GRP bonding gutter was also installed between the property and neighbouring roof to ensure effective drainage at the shared boundary.
